weekly wrap-up

Mood

A better week. Once again, there is that underlying feeling of depression, but I was able to be productive and have a few laughs. Like many others, it can hard for me to accept the good times, because I’m always waiting for the bubble to burst. I’ve done a much better job of being optimistic. I’m usually optimistic about the long distance future, but not so much the short term. I’m working on that.

During the middle of the week I did get sick, so it brought my mood down, but that’s situational. Anyone can have a low mood or even depression as a result of being sick, but that’s not the depression I’m usually talking about.

Weight and Fitness

Weight on Aug 13 – 258.6
Weight on August 20 – 256.4
Total loss = 2.2 lbs.

I ate heavy for the weekend, very heavy. The middle of the week was an entire different thing. I had a horrible stomach virus. I couldn’t eat for about 2 ½ days. The last time this happened I lost 4 lbs and kept it off. Fortunately, I had a similar experience last week. The virus cleared up a couple of days before weigh in so I’m fully confident that it was not water weight. I maintained my goal of staying below 260 lbs.

Since my short term goal is to lease 6 lbs. a month, I believe I’m pretty well set for September. By the end of the month I should be just below 250 lbs. and I’ll make the commitment to never see 250 again. Baby steps, though. Baby steps.

I didn’t go on any major walks, or any exercise at all. The virus had me down and when it was gone I was so weak and exhausted that it took several days to recoup. This week that will change.

Writing

I was unable to read or write last week. I tried numerous times and just couldn’t focus. I spent most of the time trying to binge watch on Netflix, but that didn’t work either because I kept falling asleep. I think my body was screaming at me to just chill out a bit, and who was I to argue?
I’m looking forward to writing again this week.

Synopsis

Well, as I said repeatedly, I was a bit under the weather, but I did the best I could based on the circumstances I was dealt. For that reason, I’m going to classify last week as good.

  1. You got through a tough week and I’m so happy you’re feeling better! That sucks that the depressionw was lurking, but at least some of it was situational as you noted. I relate to what you wrote about depression, and also to that “bubble bursting”-sensation.

Yes, utilize the virus weight loss as a way to see you through to your goal, why not? :)))) I too ate “heavy” over the weekend, but this is our new week to get it together once again. As you wrote, it’s all about those “baby steps”.

We got back ffrom Tahoe last night just in time for the girls to attend their first day of school – 4th & 6th grade, respectively. I saw my daughter’s bully this morning when I walked Avi to class (I usually drop her off) and boy, how I wanted to give that little bully one of those freaky “You never know…..this mommy might be an evil axe murderer, so stay the hell away from my baby!!!!” look, but (and you’ll be proud of me, Bradley) I rose above my darkened soul’s tendency to want to maim those who hurt and threaten the ones I love.

Now I’m off to work on my book that’s due in approx. two seconds, I mean due on Oct. 1st. Seriously, time goes by so quickly when I DON’T want it to, and it slows down when I would like it to hurry up. That’s how it goes, right?

I’ll see you @ our “home away from home” on Lose It! – thanks a trillion for your support, esp. recently. I hope you’re having a great Monday. Xo

    1. Glad you had such a good time, Dyane. It is time for both of us to get back in the saddle again. Keep that chin up.

Interesting you mention bullying. My post tomorrow is about bullying…but with a twist.

Good luck on finishing your book

  2. I’m so glad you are feeling better! And am proud you lost more weight! You have a week now to keep going strong, good luck to you and Dyane.

  3. I’m glad you are feeling better, Bradley 🙂
And you are doing a great job losing weight slowly.
Nice that you decided to listen to your body and rest a bit 🙂

  4. Sorry to hear you’ve been so sick Bradley. Give yourself a break and time to heal. Once over the initial bug, the body’s generally taken a beating, so rest and sleep and get going again when you feel strong ((hugs))
