Doing Laundry and Thinking ‘Bout Marriage

Wow, the past couple of posts were real downers. Maybe I shouldn’t post when I’m low depressed. I’ll chase everyone away.

I actually haven’t started doing the laundry yet, but I did sort them and took a load down to the laundry room. It’s not my fault that all the washers were taken.

For those of you who aren’t BP, this probably seems like a silly thing to get excited over, but tasks like this can be extremely difficult. I’m usually so manic that I can’t handle mundane tasks, or so depressed that I can’t get out of the house. On the bright side I have an excuse when the chores pile up!

Yesterday I put myself as a three on the mood meter, but in the evening I was more of a four. I think I’m what’s called a a rapid cycler. My mood swings change quickly rather than over a long period of time. On top of that I’m what’s called mixed bipolar. That means I’m manic and depressed at the same time. The depression I had over the past couple of days where I was so lethargic is actually rare for me. Usually when I’m depressed I’m still hyper and agitated. That makes putting a number on the mood chart difficult, but I just choose the best number I can. Rapid cycling and mixed bipolar are not as common. I’m so lucky to stand out from the rest. UGH.

Sad news. Right wing religious groups have been running a petition drive in California to get a measure on this November’s ballot designating in the state constitution that marriage is between a man and a woman. Currently the state supreme court is determining what our constitution allows, but if this measure passes it won’t matter what the supreme court decides. The opposition groups are now saying that the have enough signatures to put this on the ballot.

This is California for God’s sakes! While many of you think this is only the land of nuts and berries, we actually have very large pockets of right wing areas. On top of that, Focus on the Family, one of the largest hate groups in the nation, spent a fortune to support the petition drive. It’s amazing to me that states across the nation are passing measures to restrict the freedoms against a group of people. I’m more amazed that people only see it as a gay issue and not a civil rights issue. It should scare the shit out of everyone.

At least there’s one thing to cheer me up. The U.S. military actually supports homosexuals. Apparently we’re too precious to risk. Here’s the news report:
